Personal income tax finalisation — individuals doing it themselves
People with salary from two payers, who left their job before the company's finalisation, who have income from which no tax was withheld, or who want a refund finalise for themselves. The deadline is the last day of the 4th month after the calendar year; file on the tax app and check every line against the withholding certificates.
TaxDatum helps you prepare and does not file on your behalf. TaxDatum is run by a private company, not the tax authority; filing is done on the official channel named under Where to file.
Who needs to do this
- People with salary or wages from two or more payers during the year who do not qualify to authorise an organisation to finalise for them.
- People who left their job before the company's finalisation and are required to finalise or want a refund.
- People with income from abroad or from a payer that did not withhold tax.
- People with overpaid tax they want refunded, or with dependants not yet counted during the year.
When
- After the calendar year ends, once all withholding certificates are available.
- Deadline: the last day of the 4th month following the calendar year (under the Law on Tax Administration) — check updated guidance if there are changes.

Common mistakes
- Clicking to accept suggested figures while one income source has not been declared or has been declared incorrectly.
- Selecting the wrong tax office — the file is returned or sent around in circles.
- Husband and wife both claiming the same dependant.
- The refund account is not in the name of the taxpayer.
- Forgetting a small income amount on which 10% was withheld at a secondary workplace.
- Filing an additional initial return instead of a supplementary return when an error is discovered.

Questions and answers
When is the deadline for personal income tax self-finalisation?
The last day of the 4th month following the calendar year, in accordance with the Law on Tax Administration. If there is an amount due, payment must be made by the same deadline; it is advisable to check for any updated guidance if there are changes to the deadline.
If I change companies mid-year, should I self-finalise or authorise?
Usually self-finalisation, because you have salary from two sources during the year. The exception is a change due to enterprise reorganisation (merger, division, etc.) under the conditions set out in guidance documents; in that case you may authorise the new employer.
If I finalise on the mobile app, do I need to submit any documents with it?
The return filed on the app uses data already declared by organisations, but you should still keep withholding certificates, dependant documents and deduction evidence for cross-checking and to answer if the tax authority asks further questions — especially if your self-entered figures differ from the system's suggested figures.
